Easter!
This week is Holy Week for us Greeks Lot’s of traditions and memories being made. Which is a perfect time to talk about being a working mom and trying to upkeep the traditions that were passed down by my parents. First off, we need to dye eggs, make koulurakia (Easter cookies), make tsourekia (Sweet bread). On top of that, we need to also incorporate the more modern traditions, which are the Easter Easter baskets, and the egg hunt. Well, being that this past Sunday was Palm Sunday, the day was supper busy, but I got to make koulurakia with my daughter, even if it was at 9pm. Monday, I got home from work late and my daughter wanted to dye the eggs…so there I am, with her of course, making our Greek egg dyes (deep red, dark blue, yellow and green) and of course our more fun eggs dyes, which included glitter and a little gold! So we were done at 10pm…that’s what I was able to do so far…I took Good Friday off and Monday after Easter, so I should be able to get everything else done too! Keeping the traditions alive and making some sweet memories with my daughter! Even though completely exhausted….I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
